In short
A recent Chinese certification confirms that the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max support up to 45W wired charging using the USB-C port. Additionally, the new iPhone 16 models have faster wireless MagSafe charging, increased from 15W to 25W. Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 series start on Friday, September 13, and shipping begins on September 20.
The iPhone 16 series brings several upgrades, including a 48MP Fusion Camera, a new Camera Control button, and Apple Intelligence. Although Apple highlighted the faster wireless MagSafe charging during the launch, it didn’t mention one of the most exciting upgrades: 45W USB-C charging! This is a big improvement over the iPhone 15 series, which had 29W charging.
According to the China Quality Centre certification, all iPhone 16 models (iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max) support up to 45W wired charging. This makes charging up to 50% faster than the previous iPhone 15 lineup, which topped out at 27W to 29W.
Even though there were rumors about faster charging before the iPhone 16 launch, Apple didn’t make a big deal of the 45W charging feature, as they rarely discuss wired charging details. However, it’s a significant upgrade that many have been waiting for.
